Pune Festival 2010 to be inaugurated by Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Sept 17, 2010
The 22nd edition of Pune Festival 2010 will be inaugurated on Friday September 17, 2010 at 4:30PM at Balgandharva Rangmandir at the hands of Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy Hon Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
Minister for Forests GOM Hon Dr. Patangrao Kadam, Minister for Revenue GOM Hon. Narayan Rane, Minister for Co-operatives GOM Hon Harshwardhan Patil, Minister of State for Home Hon. Ramesh Bagwe, and Mayor of Pune Shri Mohansingh Rajpal will be the guests of honour.
This year the “Pune Festival Award” for eminent Indians who have made a valuable contribution in their chosen fields will be presented to singer Pt. Kishori Amonkar, Industrialist Cyrus Poonawala for development of Swine Flu vaccine, and to industrialist Anu Aga.

As always, the inauguration will be a grand show with a variety of performances, and will be compered by Shri Sudhir Gadgil and Ms. Dooriya Shipchandler.
Beginning with Sanai Wadan by Shri Tukaram Daithankar & Group, Ganesh Aarti, Shri Ganesh Vandana by Smt. Hema Malini and her daughters Esha and Aahana, Music and Dance celebration on the occasion of Golden Jubliee Year of Maharashtra – “Maharashtra Geet” directed by Dhananjay Bawalekar, Choreographed by Santosh Sakat and performed by Madhura Velankar, Bhargavi Chirmule. Vocals by Bela Shende, Nandesh Umap & Prasad Oak.
Tradition of Ganesh Puja from Peshwas to Lokmanya Tilak to pune festival era with Audio Visual & directed by Sunul Mahajan and “Lawani Bavankhani”. Choreographed by Tejashri Adige and performed by Varsha Usgaonkar, Sonali Kulkarni, Deepali Sayeed, Amruta Khanvilkar will be the center of attraction of the opening ceremony.
